The Department of Sociology submitted to the educational section of the university the final report on the scientific-research works for 2006-2008. The scientific-research work for these years was “Epistemological and social problems of personality formation”. The research theme’s following aspects were under discussion by the department members:

• significance and characteristics of the modernity;
• dynamics of the development of social institutions;
• interaction of social groups and impact to it the global regional, religious, national, and ethnic peculiarities;
• sociological analysis of the developing economic, political, and cultural processes and the role of personality factor in it;

The major part of the research problems were discussed in the articles, conference materials and in the educational process of the university.
