DEPARTMENT HISTORY

The department of Philosophy was established as the department of dialectical materialism and historical materialism in 1976.
But the department of Philosophy for nature faculties was established in the base of the department of dialectical materialism and the department of Philosophy for humanitarian faculties was established in the base of the department of historical materialism in 1988.

One of successfully functioning faculty chair is - philosophy chair on humanitarian faculties. It has passed in submission of faculty of social sciences and psychology in 1999. From first day of occurrence since 1976 on present time it is headed by the Doctor of Philosophy, professor H.R.Imanov. He has ended philosophical branch of historical faculty BSU in 1953, then has arrived in postgraduate study in department of philosophy NAS of Azerbaijan. H.R.Imanov worked as the younger scientific employee of aforementioned branch in 1953-58 . He protected the master's thesis in 1958, he held a post of the senior lecturer of chair of philosophy BSU. And after thesis for a doctor's degree protection became the professor of the same chair in 1978. Since 1956 works as managing aforementioned chair. During 55 years of scientific and pedagogical activity G.Imanov was the supervisor of studies more than 50 candidate and the scientific adviser of 3 theses for a doctor's degree. It had been published a number of monographies, textbooks, manuals and scientific articles. It has prepared programs and methodical recommendations about the general course and philosophy special courses. Among H.Imanova's proceedings it is possible to note the following: «World system of socialism», «Change of spiritual shape Azerbaijan force», «Formation of communistic relations», «Social-class structure of the developed socialist society», «Philosophical thought of the Muslim East in the Middle Ages», "Historical materialism" (textbook), "Philosophy" (textbook), «philosophy Bases» (manual). Being the manager chair throughout 32 years H.R.Imanov also conducts active work in the organisation of educational and scientific activity of faculty. It is a member of Academic council BSU, directly participates in activity of public organisations, in working out and realisation of some projects and programs connected with a science and study.
