HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

The department of Sociology was established in 1991 as a first specialized department that initially called the department of Philosophy and Sociology. The chief of department since its first day was Jamil Teymur Ahmedli, honored scientist, professor of Philosophy. There were in the department seventeen members at that time.
According to the resolution of the meeting No3 of BSU’s Scientific Council on 19 May, 2004 the department of Philosophy and Sociology was liquidated and on its basis was established the department of Sociology.
