The head of the Centre of science of Training and Research «Islamic Studies» - prof. А.Gurbanov. This centre has been created after the resulted more low, having performance resulted more low long-term program character with deeply intelligent, substantial, historical speech of the leader of Azerbaijan of Gay gift of Aliev on spent in 1998. With that end in view Academy of sciences of Azerbaijan, BSU and scientific research institutes should create the special organisations, bodies and centres of science for this area. If such attempts are undertaken, I will support them, I will create for them all conditions. It be confident.»
About creation in BSU the new organisation have been signed in 1999. The corresponding decision of the Big Scientific council, on its basis the decree of Ministry of Education of the Azerbaijan Republike from 19th July 1999. And the order №124 rectors BSU from 11th October, 1999. On the basis of this order the head of the centre prof Asadulla Gurbanov have been defined. Under the guidance of Asadulla Gurbanov in 2004. For the first time the centre had been spent scale scientific-theoretical and practically important conference on a theme «Actual problems Islamic Studies in Azerbaijan».
The same year in the area of the centre of prof. Gurbanov has published and has transferred in using to students the textbook (for high schools) «Religion in system of international contacts - Islam factor». After that in the area of the centre are prepared for the press «the Encyclopaedic dictionary of terms исламоведения» and the monography «Islam and Aliev's phenomenon», the project «the Azerbaijan concept Islamic Studies» has been prepared. On the basis of it in a republican periodic press: newspapers, magazines, exhibitions, collections numerous articles have been published, in an aether transfers, at scientific meetings, conferences have been let out, symposiums interesting thoughts have been sounded. Also 1 post-graduate student -Hasanova Vafa has been prepared, its master's thesis on a theme «Actual problems Islamic Studies during modern time» has been admitted to protection. At present employees of cent are occupied by serious research work on the big project on a theme «the Role of the world cultural wealth of Islam in construction in independent Azerbaijan the secular, legal, democratic state and humanistic, a civil society». In this context employees of the centre, and also the head of the organisation publish numerous articles of scientific character. For example: «Islam and Aliev's phenomenon», «Aliev the founder in Azerbaijan sciences Islamic Studies », «Islam against the international terrorism», «Ilham Aliev and Islam», «Essence of sects of radical character» and others.
