Scientific work

The department of Sociology in its scientific work is guided by the instructions of the Ministry of Education of AR and the university administration on the strengthening of unity of science and education, on the increasing of rationality of scientific research.
In parallel with the everyday work the department accentuates its attention on the revealing of talented students from the undergraduate and graduate levels and their attraction to the scientific research on the contemporary and pressing themes. In addition, the department is represented with its some professors in the university’s Dissertation Council D.02.015.
The department’s research work for 2008 was the following theme: “Epistemological and Social Problems of Personality Formation” (Supervisor - F. G. Vahidov, candidate of philosophical sciences, associate professor). In this work in complex are studied the factors that influence on the formation and development of personality in the context of restoration of contemporary social relations.
The department’s 2009 research work are the following themes: “Main Streams of Social Policy of Azerbaijan in Modern Conditions”, “Dynamics of Socio-Cultural Processes in Modern Azerbaijan Society”. Main problems under discussion of this research work are: characterization the policy as a phenomenon with its specifics, comparison of different approaches to the structure of policy, optimal variant choice in policy, analysis of integration processes in the sphere of social and humanitarian sciences, main changes taking place in the public opinion in Azerbaijan.
