PHILOSOPHY DEPARTMENT

In 1990 at historical faculty of the Baku State University the enrolment of students on specialities Sociology (the Azerbaijan and Russian sector), the historian-psychologist, the historian - the social psychologist, history-ethnopsychology (the Azerbaijan sector) for the first time has been formed. In the following, two more specialities - sociology and psychology, on which base (with addition to chair of philosophy and the economic theory) the faculty of social sciences and psychology has been created in 1991. Еhe enrolment of students was spent to a speciality of the theory of sociopolitical relations (has been then transformed to political science) шт 1992. Thus there was a difficult teaching-scientific structure - new faculty where shots on new specialities prepare.
In first time for direct submission of faculty there was only one chair - philosophy and sociology. 3 public chairs (psychology, economy, political science and sociology) have joined in faculty structure in 1992.
The new step to a direction of improvement of effective activity and organizational strengthening of faculty has been carried out in 1999. It is a question of an arrangement of the rector according to which in faculty structure following chairs entered: psychology, pedagogics, political science and sociology, economy, philosophy and cultural science history, philosophy on natural faculty and philosophy on humanitarian faculties.

Chief of the department of philosophy for nature faculties which carring out activity as independent department from 1988 is doctor of philosophical sciences, honored scientist, academician Fuad Gasimzade. Lecturers of department teach philosophy subject in the nature faculties of the Baku State University. At the same time they research on urgent problems of philosophy.
